Project Task - Services Installation

PART A

For this activity, you will need to refer to the PN8168 Plans Pack

Review the project documentation for Project Number 8168, refer file PN8168 Plans Pack and complete the following activities relating to the planning and installation of the necessary services:

• Determine whether the required fall of 1.65% for sanitary drainage of plumbing fixtures can be achieved in the space indicated on the drawings. Allow for DN100 suspended drain with 150 mm clearance from the slab soffit to the top of the drain at the high point adjacent to the trap for installation. Allow 40mm above the finished ceiling height for framing for the suspended ceiling. Show your calculations.
• If the determination is that the ceiling space in the design is insufficient, recommend a solution to the problem.
• Identify which Australian Standard determines this requirement
• Research and provide details of the following:
o One fixing method for suspended sanitary drains and how these would be checked for structural adequacy
o One fixing method for suspended hydraulic services and how these would be checked for structural adequacy
o One method for fixing of electrical conduits to the slab soffits and how these would be checked for structural adequacy
How will I be assessed for this task?
For this task you are required to submit the following:
• Written report clearly including your calculations and details of your determination
• Written report must also include details of your research as outlined above
• Written report must be typed, clearly worded and take into account any cultural differences

Project Task 1.8 - Services Installation PART B

For this task, you will need to refer to the file Assessment Task Worksheets - Medium Rise Structures and complete the following:
• On the drawing 8168_H06B, sketch the water reticulation layout for the apartment level, including supply and connection using a bulk storage hot water system located in the basement, metered and billed to the body corporate.
• On the drawing 8168_U06B, sketch out the sewerage connection and layout for the apartment level, ensuring your sketch meets regulations and standards.
• On the drawings 8168_M05B sketch the mechanical air ventilation and distribution system you intend to implement for the supermarket. This must be appropriate to building design and complementary to other services.
• On the Drawing 8168_E06B sketch in the wiring for the consumer mains to each apartment, wiring for public lighting and the wiring exit/emergency lighting.
• In the underground car park drawing for 8168_U04B, you are required to sketch in a WC near the water tank. It needs its own small waste treatment plant, as it is situated below the level of the local authority sewer. Include notes on how the system would be connected to the sewer system and how the stormwater would be connected to the W/C.
Once you have completed these tasks, take photographs of your sketches for submission. You must keep your sketches until further notice, as you may be asked for further explanation of your sketches by your trainer/assessor.
How will I be assessed for this task?
For this task you are required to submit the following:
• Photos clearly showing above sketches
• You must submit five (5) sketches in total to cover following drawings:
o 8168_H06B
o 8168_U06B
o 8168_M05B
o 8168_E06B
o 8168_U04B
