Question

The three strikes law requires a person who is convicted of a felony offense and who has one or two other previous serious felony convictions to serve a mandatory life sentence in prison, with or without parole depending on the jurisdiction. Some issues raised are that this law, for example, in California has placed low-level felony offenders in prison for 25 years to a life sentence. The question raised is if this law is actually reducing crime, increasing crime, creating an overcrowding issue, etc. Many non-violent felony offenders have been placed in prison on a 25 year to life sentence.
