Sensory systems convey 4 basic types of information: modality, location, intensity, and timing.

Can someone please describe these four basic types of information?

More specifically, please address intensity. In my lecture slidesnotes, it says intensity is signaled by response magnitude forindividual receptors. What exactly is the intensity referingto? The intensity of the receptor? Or the intensity of theaction potential that was caused by the receptors reaction to the stimulus?
