This assignment consists of two parts:

The first part involves selecting and interviewing a professional within your chosen career. (The professional should have a minimum of 5 years in the field.) The purpose of this interview is to gain a realistic view of the profession you are entering, as well as to identify some rewards and demands within the profession. Every profession has its unique demands and this activity will help prepare you for such challenges.

For the interview portion of the assignment, please address the following questions in your paper (NOTE: these questions are the minimum requirement; you may add additional information that is of particular interest to you):

a) What is your job title?

b) How long have you worked in the field?

c) What educational degree and additional training did you receive in order to fulfill your job duties?

d) What type of clients or patients do you work with on a regular basis?

e) What are the tasks of your job?

0 What do you think are important attributes an individual should possess in order to fulfill this role?

g) What do you consider to be the rewards of the job?

h) What challenges do you face on the job?

i) What ethical issue(s) have you had to face as a professional?

j) How have you resolved the ethical issues(s)?

k) What are some major stressors of the job?

1) How do you manage these stressors?

m) Have you ever experienced burnout? If so, what were the symptoms and how, did you handle them?

n) What do you wish someone would have told you when you were just beginn;,,;g in this field?

The second part requires that you create your own "Self- Care Plan" based on knowledge acquired from the interview and honest self reflection to the questions below:

o) What awareness as a future professional have you acquired?

p) What specific strategies will you utilize in order to cope with stress?

q) How do you plan to maintain your vitality in both your personal and professional life?

r) How satisfied are you with your current self-care practices?

s) To what extent might you engage in any change as a result of the interview?

t) What is your action plan for any desired changes? Be detailed and specific.
