2. With the aid of suitable sketch diagram(s), explain the working principle of air-water HVAC system and give two examples of its application.
3. A building is equipped with a central air-conditioning system as shown in Fig.Q3. There are 8 Fan coil Units with each serving for one floor. The floor height between G/F and 1/F is 4.5m and the rest floor height is 3.0m. The horizontal chilled water pipeline length can be estimated as 20m. The cooling load of each FCU is listed as Table Q3.
(a) Determine the size of each pipeline. Commercial steel pipe (Schedule 40) is used. The pipe sizing chart is attached in the Appendix.
(b) Select a proper chilled water pump. You need to present the detailed calculation process and the specification of the selected pump.

4. A cooling tower of a commercial building cools 120 kg.s-1 of water from 35 °C to 25 °C. The inlet air to the cooling tower has a temperature of 25 °C dry bulb (DB) and 35% relative humidity (RH). Air leave the cooling tower saturated at 35 °C Calculate the volume flow rate of air required by the cooling tower in m3.s-1.
