An open reading frame in a DNA-sequence is a segment of codons between a start and a stop codon. A long open reading frame is an indication that the open reading frame is actually coding for a protein since long open reading frames would be unlikely by chance. Discuss whether you believe that an open reading frame of length more than 33 is likely to be a protein coding gene.
