You are a company leader (perhaps the founder in a startup, or a C-level person at a large corporate, etc. Your company is productive; people get work done and seem generally motivated and enthusiastic about work. However, there is little innovation happening. When you explore this, the overwhelming response across all parts and all levels of the organization is that they need to focus on the day-to-day work and dealing with the chaos and uncertainty that they already have without adding to it with innovation. Deadlines are looming and work needs to continue to progress towards them. In short, there is no bandwidth for innovation because keeping the company running is already full-time for everyone.
