Scientists discovered a diploid single-celled fungus (eukaryote) that can divide mitotically or meiotically. When nitrogen sources like amino acids are at high levels in their environment, the fungal cells will switch to meiosis. The transition to meiosis begins when an amino acid binds a plasma membrane receptor protein.

Using general knowledge about signaling, propose a logical order for these events that connect the signal-receptor interaction to initiation of meiosis in this fungal cell.
