Saturated liquid water is kept in a piston-cylinder-weight assembly at 100 kPa. Heat is added from a reservoir at 120 C so that saturated vapor is formed.

a. Estimate the absolute availabilities in kJ/kg of saturated liquid and vapor.

b. What is the optimum work for producing 1 kg of vapor? Assume that temperature is uniform within H2O. Ambient temperature is 298.15 K. Explain the sign using physics.

c. Estimate entropy generated if any in kJ/kg for the current scheme in generating saturated vapor.
