Problem: A river reach ABCDE has two tributaries carrying flows of 0.1 m3/s and 0.2 m3/s respectively at B and D (regulated).  The flow upstream of A is 0.7 m3/s.  At C, a point source carries an industrial discharge of 0.3 m3/s with a chloride concentration of 1500 mg/l.  The background chloride concentration of the main river and the tributaries are 30 mg/l each.  It is desired to abstract water at E and the chloride concentration at E should not exceed 250 mg/l.
