Ten years ago, Jane made a one-time investment of $1,000 and locked in a 9% annual interest rate for the next 30 years (ending 20 years from now). Eric can make a 20-year investment today and lock in a 5% interest rate. How much money should he invest now in order to have the same amount of money 20 years from today as Jane?
