The marine iguana is also known as the sea iguana is a species found only on the Galapagos Islands. Unlike other lizards, it is a marine reptile. The iguanas have the ability to forage in the sea for algae which makes up almost all of their diet. One issue that arises is that there is an incredible amount of slat content in the body fluids of these iguanas. To remove the excess salts from their bodies these iguanas use specialized salt glands on their noses as well as specialized kidneys.
