SPSS Assignment -

Instructions - The purpose of this assignment is to assess your ability to use SPSS through a practical application. For this assignment participation, you will work with the results of a teacher survey (see below). The survey was administered in SurveyMonkey and the results exported to an Excel file (Teacher_Data).

To complete the SPSS Assignment, complete the following tasks.

A. Open and review the Excel file, "Teacher_Data."

B. Open SPSS and import the "Teacher_Data" Excel file.

C. Save the imported file as an SPSS file with the name, "Teacher_Data_1".

D. Go to data view and review the database by scrolling through the cases.

E. Go to variable view and complete the following:

1. In the "Name" field, rename each variable to correspond with the question numbers on the survey instrument (see below). For example, the variable that imports as, "IliketeachingatSWS" should be renamed as "Q1." You can leave "RespondentID" as is.

2. Insert a descriptive label for each variable.

3. For all applicable questions, change variable type from string to numeric.

4. For Questions 1-6, create value labels according to the following:

a. Strongly Disagree = 1

b. Disagree = 2

c. Agree = 3

d. Strongly Agree = 4

e. Prefer not to answer = System Missing

5. For Questions 7 and 8, create value labels according to the following:

a. Yes = 1

b. No = 0

c. Unsure = 2

F. Compute the new variable "Teacher_Satisfaction"where,

a. Teacher_Satisfaction = Q1 + Q2.

b. Create value labels to correspond with the numeric results

G. For all variables Q1-Q8, including "Teacher_Satisfaction," run frequency distribution tables and descriptive statistics. Save the SPSS Output File as, "Output_LastName"

H. Using the Generalization, Example, Exception framework, how would you summarize the results of the frequency tables and descriptive statistics? Write a one-page summary of the results on a Word document. Save the summary as "Summary_LastName"

I. Save the revised SPSS file as "Data_LastName."

Submission: Submit the files for items G, H and I above. You will submit an output file (G), Word document (H), and SPSS database (I).

The output data are accurate. The summary highlights the main findings and follows the Generalization, Example(s), Exception framework.

B - The documents or database include most of the required specifications. The database needs minor modifications to be ready for analysis. The output results demonstrate some inaccuracies. The summary either does not highlight the major results or strays from the GEE framework. C - The database is missing several required specifications. The database is not ready for analysis without considerable modifications. The output results demonstrate major inaccuracies. The summary is not well-written. D/F - The database and documents do not meet the specifications or are incomplete.
