"The social landscape adds a distinctive landmark in adolescence - romantic relationships. These are uncommon during elementary school but, in one study of U.S. children and adolescents, about 50% of 15-year olds and 70% of 18-year-olds had been involved in a romantic relationship within the past 1 ½ years.
