Paganism was the dominant religion in the Roman Empire until Christianity emerged. I needed more knowledge on the word pagan, so after doing some research, I found the word pagan refers to those who practice polytheistic religions. What this means is the followers worship multiple Gods and Goddesses. As we know, there are many we learned about in this course. When Christianity became the primary religion in the 4th Century CE, this didn't mean that all followers committed only to Christ. Many people continued to practice pagan traditions in secret or merged them with Christian beliefs, which ultimately led to syncretic religions. It is challenging for people to change their beliefs to something new. I can't imagine practicing a religion and then suddenly you are told this is a new way. It must have been not easy. I wonder what techniques the Christians used to convert all the followers. I included the paganism star and was surprised it is very common with the Wicca religion which is known for witch craft, this really surprised me.
