Describe the events that take place when you cut your finger with a dirty nail. Think about what immune barriers were crossed, what cells react and when, what signals are sent.

For part A- tailor your answer such that the innate immune defenses can take care of the invading pathogens. Focus on what immune responses are happening and how you can kill the pathogens before they become an issue.

For part B- Rethink your answer assuming your innate immune defenses were NOT able to clear the Initial invading pathogens. What responses come next? How does that adaptive immunity kick in? What cells are at play during the activation of adaptive immunity? What is the role of innate immunity in activating adaptive immunity? What are some key cells and locations at play here? How do B cells get activated, how do T cells get activated? Describes the roles of T cells and B cells.
