Angela Davis, Afeni Shakur, and Assata Shakur were all active participants and/or leaders within the Black Power Movement of the late nineteen sixties and early nineteen seventies. All three women's stories shared commonalitities, but they also exemplify different roles and manifestations of Black women political activists of this time frame.

INSTRUCTIONS: The Midterm Essay needs to explore the different roles of each woman, and how their personal narratives are representative of larger roles and/or experiences of Black women political activists within the Black Power Movement and era. Use the autobiographies/biography we are reading, along with supplemental materials you find relevant, to build your thesis and supporting arguments. Use at least two independent sources besides the autobiographies/biographies.

The paper should be grounded historically, adequately supported, and properly cited. A wide range of supporitng materials are welcome. Refrain from referer cing questionable websites and/or unsupported opinions of others.
