Assessment - Research Proposal

A research proposal is a written document that details and explains a proposed research project. It is important to understand that this is a proposed research project - it is not a research project the student is required to undertake. The research proposal must have a clear statement of the research topic, questions and aims and have a clear plan for how the research will be conducted. The research proposal should be realistic and follow the following format (refer to Walter 2013, pp 43 - 46 for a detailed explanation of what should be contained within each of these section headings).

Use APA 7 referencing. Your research proposal should include at least 12 (scholarly) journal articles and textbook references.

POSSIBLE RESEARCH TOPICS - all Research Proposals must state that they are being conducted in Perth, Western Australia - or if elsewhere then please state where it will be conducted and make sure you include related COSTS such as travel costs, accommodation and meal costs.

If your research proposal is to be conducted in Perth then there will be NO travel and other associated out of home costs of conducting your research.

Some essential TIPS for choosing a Research Topic:-
• Make a list of KEYWORDS for your topic
• Pick a topic (social issue) you are interested in and maybe would like to work in
• Pick a topic that enables you to read and understand the relevant literature
• Ensure there is enough material available to conduct your research (other researches completed)
• Choose an appropriate 'research method' (interviews/focus groups)
• Develop a focused research topic before you do anything else
