At Apple, each week, there are two meetings by the design team. First, there is a right brain creative meeting where people brainstorm for ideas. This is the search component of innovation development. However, the second meeting referred to as the left brain production MANAGING INNOVATION 13 meeting, the designers bring all the ideas of the previous meeting together and work out the brainstormed ideas to bring about a conceptualized approach of what will work. Through this process, the design team is able to determine what can work and separate it from what cannot work. A deeper approach to understanding the second innovative step at Apple involves also the comparison of possible outcomes of the new innovation and comparing with an already existent solution both for integration purposes and to avoid redundancy (Eaton et al., 2011). The new concepts are analyzed based on the basis of solution, implementation, and marketing. Solutions cover the value that the new products bring to the customer including its improvement from the previous models. Implementation includes procurement, production, and logistics or the effect of the potential innovation on the current supply chain. Finally, marketing includes the presence of market or potentiality of acquisition of the new tech by customers . Apple reports that design ideas are run through some artificial natural selection that kills the weak while letting the strongest ideas prevail.
