Question: You will be asked to write, in essay format, an analysis of one of the articles included as required readings in this course. Your essay should be approximately 600 words in length. You will be provided with a copy of the article in the attachment. You will also be given a detailed list of questions to use as guidelines in crafting your analysis in the question. It will be important to generate your own thesis, to support your thesis with reasoning and evidence, and to organize your essay. You will be assessed on structure and style (including APA format for citations), content, and sentence-level writing skills.

The essay requires a rhetorical analysis of a selected reading from the course. You will need to include items such as the following:
· The article's rhetorical situation
· The credibility of the author(s) and the journal
· The rhetorical intentions of the author(s)
· An analysis of the intended audience
· The content of the article, including the main idea, research methods and results, and lines of reasoning
· The author(s)' rhetorical moves
· The purpose of citations
· The strategy of the conclusion
Common errors:
· Using all or most of the essay to summarize the content rather than to write a rhetorical analysis
· Omitting the Reference section at the end
· Omitting in-text, parenthetical citations for quotations, summaries and paraphrases and other aspects of APA formatting
· Not leaving enough time to proofread and edit carefully
