Scenario one: how to respond and justify the questions following to given scenario.

The John Maxwell Team, a British businessman and investor, registers a branch of chain business in Afghanistan-John Maxwell Solutions (MS). JMS will be established in Kabul with operations in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan. JMS provides immediate and high-quality solutions to businesses for their financial planning and management, organizational assessment and development, and policy analysis and development. They target all types of organizations-public, private, and NGOs. JMS has 54 managerial and operative staff. After one year of operations, the company has not hit its breakeven point. John travels to Kabul and calls for a team meeting. Most of the staff complain that there is no management in MS, the organization does not look like an organization and managers are not competent.

John, through some connections, finds out that you are an MBA graduate of Afghanistan's best university, Kardan; and you know how to manage an organization. He contacts you, interviews you, and hires you for $5000/month. John asks you to fix the problems and have the company well-operationalized in the next 6 months. He trusts you with your abilities and dignity and delegates you all the authorities to make decisions. However, you will be required to report to him on monthly basis, follow the MS general policies and practices, and prepare John to report to his board of directors. John is a very critical and business-minded person. He expects way higher returns on his investment and the salary he is giving you. He knows that Afghanistan is a risky market, but trusts that you will be a great manager for him.

In the light of what you studied as fundamentals/basics of management:

1. What will you do to ensure there is management in the organization; and what steps will you take to prove that you are an effective and efficient manager?

2. What points you consider while reviewing the performance of other managers for your team?
