Questions: Critically evaluate her writing strategies, and observe the way she writes, using the questions below as a guide. Structure the response like a rhetorical analysis, or essay, intent on arguing the effectiveness or some places ineffectiveness of the writing.

Identify the writer's thesis. Find the actual sentence. Explain your answer based on your understanding of They Say/I Say.
Describe the author's voice and tone, and select specific words from the text to support your claim.
Review the types of evidence the writer uses. Where and how does the writer effectively use ethical, emotional, and logical appeals?
Where does she capture attention? How does she relate to personally? Or how does the writing make you feel?
Do you find yourself reading more with or against the grain?
Who is the writer's target audience? Are you her target audience? To answer this question properly, you will again, need to analyze her language. Review where the article is published, and review the types of evidence she uses. The understanding audience goes beyond the writing itself. Context matters.
