Question

In April 2018 Starbucks made national headlines when two black men were arrested at a Philadelphia location after sitting in the coffee shop without purchasing anything. In response to the public outcry, Starbucks announced that they would be closing stores across the country to provide their employees with racial bias education training. Please review the Starbucks Channel article The Third Place: Our Commitment, Renewed and watch at least one of the videos provided as part of the training materials.

This week's reading covers the topic of diversity and inclusion. Considering Starbucks mission and values and thinking from the perspective of HR, why was this training important?
