Process analysis can be directive (how to) or explanatory (how does). A directive process will identify the steps it takes to bake cookies, program a phone, paint a room, or any kind of activity that can be broken down in steps. An explanatory process might explain how a vaccine works, how insects feed, how the heart works, or any other examination of a complex process. It's finally here: the opportunity to use the second-person point of view "you" without being penalized! Directive process analysis typically uses "you."
