The recent development of NAEYC's Advancing Equity in Early Childhood Education provides another perspective for early educators in their work with families and children. For decades, the focus and research has been from the perspective of white, middle-class children who have no disabilities and are from English speaking families and attend predominantly English speaking programs (NAEYC, 2019).

Review the recommendations for Early Childhood Educators and choose one that might present a challenge for you as you work with children and families. Based on the recommendation you have selected, research at least two articles that support positive actions that can be implemented in the classroom. Be sure to provide the URL link for each article. discuss the following items:

  1. How do you currently assess the culture and linguistic resources your families bring to your program? If you are not working in a program currently, how might you do?
  2. How will you provide opportunities for children to share their voice and agency? How will you encourage them to be active learners in all areas?
