Follow the instructions to confirm in which unit(s) you will be required to complete these case studies.
Read the entire case to get a general idea of what the case is about. Remember to review the tables and exhibits to gather additional information.
Ensure sufficient details and examples from the case are included to support your answers. > Use the timeframe indicated in the case, not the current timeframe.
When asked to make a recommendation, a conclusion or to make a decision, remember to consider possible alternatives.
When deciding between alternatives, list the possible alternatives and use a pros and cons list or a decision matrix to make a recommendation. Remember to provide a full justification for your recommendation.
Clearly state your recommendations and ask yourself whether you have really supported your conclusions and recommendations with hard evidence (events and results) from the case study.
When conducting a Porter's Five Forces analysis, remember that it is completed on the induStry in which the organization operates and remember to evaluate all relevant criteria for each of the five forces.
It is okay to use general knowledge from outside of the case when completing a PEST, but it also MUST include specific data and details from the case.

Important positive factors from the PEST can be transferred to the opportunities in a SWOT. Important negative factors from the PEST can be transferred to the threats in a SWOT.
In a SWOT, opportunities are not strategies. They are factors/trends that are occurring in the external environment of which the organization can take advantage.
Case Studies
Case 1: Beyond Meat: Changing Customer Behaviour in Food Consumption (This case study will be over Units 2 & 3)
1. Review the organization's mission statement. Is it a good and effective mission statement? Explain why or why not. What might need to change, if anything?
2. Conduct a Porter's Five Forces analysis on the meat and meat alternatives industry. Remember to evaluate all the relevant criteria for each of the five forces and provide a low, medium, or high rating for each factor.

4. What obstacles will Beyond Meat need to overcome in the meat alternatives industry? What would you recommend if you were a consultant to Beyond Meat?
