Question

Carlos, a 58-year-old male, is meeting you, his new health-care provider, for the first time. Carlos' previous provider has retired. Carlos is concerned, because he has a number of health problems, and some of them "seem to be getting worse." When Carlos is asked which medications he is currently taking, he pulls out a list from his pocket and reads the following: "Nitrolingual 0.4 mg spray, enoxaparin 40 mg/day, captopril 25 mg/twice a day , flecainide 50 mg/2 times per day, and atorvastatin 20 mg." Carlos is worried because he is taking so many medications. He asks if some medications can be stopped. He would like to review the purpose of each medication, and he would like help understanding what each medication does.
