Assignment:
Review cooperating/mentor teacher lesson plan. This week get a copy of your practicum classroom teacher's lesson plan. Review the lesson plan and observe the teacher teaching the lesson plan. In your journal reflect on the following:
a. Curriculum and instructional strategies observed. This week in class the kids learned the letter J and numbers 1-20 and practiced tracing their names.
b. Standards/goals /developmental domain that is covered in the lesson plan. Recognize and name uppercase and lowercase letters. Recognize the sound associated with the letter "J."
Develop fine motor skills necessary for writing.
c. adaptations that the teacher makes for special needs students. Ms. Baynes classroom has no special needs in her class.
d. Discuss how the teacher extends the lesson into the center or how you would extend the lesson into the centers.
e. Create a Take home family activity that would extend the child's learning at home based on the teacher's lesson. (You do not need to send it home just include in your journal entry). Include a copy of the lesson plan with your journal entry. Water Cycle in a Bag
Materials
- Ziplock bag
- Permanent marker
- Water
- Blue food coloring (optional)
- Small piece of tape
Instructions
- Fill the Ziploc bag with water until it is approximately a quarter full. If you want it blue, add one or two drops of food coloring.
- Using the permanent marker, label the parts of the water cycle on the bag: evaporation, condensation, and precipitation.
- Seal the bag and tape it to a sunny window at home.
Over a few days, observe the water cycle in action! Discuss with family members what you see happening inside the bag.
