Part A: Review client's business domain and develop new business with client
1. Research and choose an organisation with an active business domain. Develop a Business Domain Review for the organisation by looking into its organisational service standards, values and culture, goods and services, and current service level agreements (SLAs).
Name of organisation:
Domain name:
Review:
2. Based on the data you have from Task1, develop a draft Business Proposal for a new business initiative for the project sponsor/client. In your Business Proposal, make sure to include:
- client service needs and preferred level of service
- opportunities for new business with client
- proposed cost and timeframes
Part B: Negotiate new business initiatives
3. Make a short video presentation of yourself presenting the Business Proposal to the project sponsor/client (refer to the 'IMPORTANT NOTES' that follow for detailed instructions). You can use one of your peers, relatives or friends to play the part of the Project Sponsor/Client but they must be briefed on the need to question your proposal and provide you with feedback. Present the details of your proposal to the project sponsor/client in a clear, concise and comprehensive manner, while addressing the following:
- present details with the proposed cost and timeframes
- clarify areas of uncertainty or disagreements
- negotiate terms of the service level agreement
- adjust service provided to the client based on client feedback and in line with organisational guidelines.
Part C: Monitor, adjust and implement procedures to maintain client focus
4. Assume that you have just implemented the agreed business initiative for two (2) weeks. The project sponsor/client has provided you with the order to deliver the proposal in a much shorter time frame and is concerned about ongoing costs involved. They have asked you to create Updated Business Proposal for their consideration, detailing the progress to date in achieving the new business initiative as well as an updated shorter time frame and reduced budget allocation. In making your Updated Business Proposal, make sure to document:
- feedback from client to improve the proposals with shorter time frame and reduced budget
- service adjustment provided based on feedback and in line with organisational guidelines
- changes and new provisions in the service level agreements (SLA).
