You just viewed a scene from the film "Out of Africa" starring Meryl Streep. The year is 1918 and Meryl Streep's character leaves Denmark and sets out to make a fortune in the wilds of Kenya. She purchases a 1,000 acres from the British who have colonized (and thereby claimed) the land. She discovers that an indigenous tribe lives on "her" property. She employs them on her farm and insists that the children go to school. This is met with disdain by the chief who says that only children below a certain height are allowed to attend school.

It is obvious that Merly Streep's character is trying to impose her culture on the tribe.
