Assignment:

Find an energy technology in which you are interested. It can be a renewable or non-renewable type of energy.

Write a brief review (1000 words) of this technology, supported by at least three (3) cited references.

For your cited references, you can use peer-reviewed scientific articles, popular press review articles (e.g. Scientific American), non-opinion page indexed news articles from reputable sources (e.g. The New York Times is okay, the National Enquirer is not), and the websites of government agencies, companies, non-profit groups, etc.

In your review, make sure to address the following questions:

1. What is the technology, and what problem(s) does it solve?
2. How does the technology work, and, if not already used for large-scale energy production, when could we realistically expect it to become a major source of energy?
3. If there are major technological hurdles that need to be overcome before the energy technology becomes useful, what are they?
4. If it is a viable technology that could work today (or soon), what is the price relative to other energy sources?
5. What are the environmental benefits and drawbacks to the technology? If this is a non-renewable technology, make sure you cover any drawbacks realistically (e.g. don't just represent the industry perspective). If it is a renewable technology, then are the benefits as large as are claimed?
