Operations Planning and Control - Group presentation
Overview of Assessment You are required to form a small group (2-3 members) to review a business operation's functions, which is part of the Tourism, Hospitality and Events (THE) industry environment (Industry Sector), and how it supports the three Industry environments in South Australia. The business operation is the ‘Adelaide Oval', which is managed by the Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority. Other members of the course will act as the audience for your presentation.
This assessment must address the following subject learning outcome(s):
• SLO1 Describe an industry environment and the overall scope of operations functions.
• In groups of 2 or 3, conduct appropriate research on the business operations of the Adelaide Oval and the Tourism, Hospitality and Events industry environments.
• Report on the Tourism, Hospitality and Events industry environment within the South Australian (SA) economy, and the operations scope of the nominated business in those industries. The nominated business is the Adelaide Oval as this business supports all three industry sectors.
• Prepare a 10-minute presentation using PowerPoint or other suitable technology. The presentation must include:o Information on the THE industry environment (scope, performance, trends, issues etc.). Use research into the THE industry in SA to support your information (Reference appropriately)
o How the business is affected by the industry environment (trends, markets, limitations etc.)
o The overall scope of operations of the business (what does the business do/provide)
o Information on the operational functions in the business, how the operations work (inputs, outputs).
o The way operations are managed and who they are managed by.
o The factors that may influence the operations and the management of those operations (e.g. the influence of the four v's).
• The presentation time must be balanced between the number of students.
• All members of the group must have knowledge of the entire presentation content and be prepared to answer questions from the assessor, or the audience.
