Question

Two tangible IT-enabled values from implementing an EHR are increase in revenue and improvement in access to data. There will be an increase in revenue because 50% of Greenfield Dermatology Associates patients are covered under Medicare and half of those patients are part of an ACO. With the ACO Greenfield is incentivized to see high-risk patients within seventy-two hours after a referral. With the implementation of an EHR system, referrals will be sent electronically, and all needed patient information will be available. This will increase the efficiency of scheduling and seeing patients within the needed seventy-two hours. One of the reasons Greenfield wants to implement an EHR system is because of greater patient demand for access to records. With the implementation of the EHR system there will be an improvement in access to data. If a patient portal is accessible, patients can simply log in and access their information.
