On the swim team, you belong. Rachel, a female colleague who weighs 141 pounds, has been attempting to reduce weight and has been avoiding carbs since she thinks they are unhealthy for one's health. She practices swimming for two hours five days a week, exercises weights twice a week for one hour, and competes in one swim competition each week. Due to her low carbohydrate diet, she has been fighting with constipation in addition to having low energy levels during practice and not swimming at her best during competitions.

1. Explain to Rachel why she should not be restricting carbohydrates in her diet.
