Question

An 80-year-old male admits to the hospital in respiratory distress with tachycardia, irregular breathing, pauses between breaths, and audible gurgling. Past medical history of DM2 and dementia. He is listed as a Full Code. His wife and children are at the bedside and convey that they do not want him to suffer anymore; he "has already lost so much in his life." He is Native American faith, and his family has not been able to see his family this past year due to the COVID-19 visitor restrictions at his nursing home. They verbalize wanting to make him peaceful.
