Greg Greedy, a very popular but avaricious college lecturer, has a two-year contract with State U in which he agreed to teach nine credits per semester during that period in exchange for a yearly salary of $75,000. After his first year, he negotiates with the administration an additional $5,000 payment to be made to him at the end of the second year in exchange for his finishing out his two-year term. He also gets his students to agree to pay him $10 at the end of the semester in every class he teaches in exchange for his agreeing to remain as their instructor. In addition, he separately enters into an agreement with five of his students to help them individually after class in the evenings for a modest fee of $20 an hour each. If, at the end of his last semester, the college refuses to pay him the $5,000 raise for having completed his contract, the students in his class refuse to pay him the $10 they each promised, and the students he had helped also refuse to pay him for the agreed-upon sessions, what are Dr. Greedy’s rights with respect to each of the three separate contracts?
