Case Study

Reba is going abroad to get married and has come in with her mother Nora for some immunization shots before going. The doctor recommends that you, the Social Service Worker, speak to them. The doctor is in a hurry and does not explain why you need to connect with the mother or daughter.

You introduce yourself, and through your preliminary discussion with Nora and Reba you discover that Reba has recently agreed to an arranged marriage. Reba explains that although she is not "super happy" about getting married, she advises that her paternal grandparents who helped raise her were the ones that arranged the marriage. Reba advises that she has great respect for both her parents and her grandparents and their happiness is of utmost importance to her. While Reba tells you all this information, Nora sits quietly smiling at her daughter. Nora comments that Reba is a respectful daughter
