Explain why arteries are called resistance vessels and veins are capacitance vessels.

I answered this question as follows, and received the question from my instructor - "Why arteries?  Think about aorta."

Arterioles regulate the arterial blood pressure and blood flow into an organ. Veins are called capacitance vessels because most of the blood volume of the body (60%) is contained within veins.
