A eukaryotic gene with two introns (narrow boxes) and three exons (wide boxes) is depicted below. The first intron is 200 bp long and the second is 180bp. The three exons are 230 bp, 150 bp and 80 bp respectively.

(a) What is the size (in bases) of the fully processed mature mRNA? Assume in your calculations a poly(A) tail of 150As.

(b) Draw the structure you would obtain if you hybridized the DNA coding for the above transcribed region including three hundred base pairs of additional flanking DNA at each end and the mRNA produced from this gene.
