Research each of your companies to find out what new products or services they have coming out.
Find out why the company decided to develop this product and any information about how it was developed. How will the product be distributed? Where will it be introduced? Who is the target audience?
A great way to get all this information is to search for their Marketing Plan or Strategy.
For example, a search for "Fiji Strategy" resulted in finding this slideshare presentation of Fiji's strategic plan. This is from 2009, but gives insight into their strategy for developing new products:
The search "Fiji 2015" resulted in discovering their new TV spots and their label change.
What to turn in using Fiji as an example:
1. Screenshot and link to a strategy or marketing plan such as the Fiji Slideshare
2. Screenshot and link to the promotion for the new product: Fiji TV Spots
3. Brief summary answering the questions above on the target audience and distribution and any insights about what the company is doing that surprised you.
4. Indicate whether the product represents:
(a) a new-to-the-world product (10% of all new products introduced each year)
(b) a new product line (20% of all new products)
(c) an addition to existing product lines (26% of all new products)
(d) an improvement or revision of existing products (26% of all new products)
(e) a repositioned product (7% of all new products)
(f) a lower-cost product (account for about 11% of all new products)
Some suggested search terms:
"Company Name strategy"
"Company Name marketing plan"
"Company Name 2015"
"Company Name new products"
"Company Name videos 2015"
"Company Name strategy slideshare"
