Research the symbols of Canadian identity. You will then narrow this down to 6 symbols that meet the criteria for a powerful, national symbol:

  • distinctive-is uniquely associated with Canada
  • recognized-is widely known across groups and regions
  • attachment-has strong attachments for many people
  • long-lasting-had been a factor for many years.

You will also need to consider the variety of symbols that you use to achieve the greatest effect. Arrange the symbols in an order that creates the maximum impact for each while contributing to an overall message.

Explain the purpose and meaning of the message you want to deliver in paragraph form. Explain your symbols including why you chose each one and why you made the choices regarding how you arranged them.
