Let's say I am most passionate about the domain of health and the family.

Within this domain, let's say I am very interested in researching health and the family within the United States in the 1980s as compared to contemporary times.

My research question could be:

  • When comparing the gendered family structure within the United States in the 1980s to contemporary times, what changes have occurred? (Note that by including "what changes have occurred," I have developed a focus to use for my thesis statement)

Finally, a topic for the possible research paper.
