Step 1: Identify a Video to Transcribe Browse the Congress House Committee Hearings and Meetings Video website and select a video.
Step 2: Research the Format for Meeting Minutes Using the internet, research different formats for typing meeting minutes and identify a simple format you would like to use as a template for this assignment.
Step 3: Listen to a Meeting and Transcribe Meeting Minutes Using word processing software, use the template you found in Step 2 to set up and prepare your meeting minutes for the meeting video you found in Step 1. Start the meeting video and begin to transcribe (type) the words you hear during the meeting. You will listen and type for 10 minutes. Capture the speaker's name, main points, conclusions, and action items. Listen carefully to pick up key words and phrases. When you have completed your 10-minute transcription, proofread your work and make any corrections. Ensure that your meeting minutes are polished and professional looking. Submit your meeting minutes via the dropbox.
