Scenario 1: A researcher wants to investigate the effect of a new drug on blood pressure. The researcher recruits participants who have high blood pressure and randomly assigns them to two groups: a treatment group that receives the new drug and a control group that receives a placebo. After a few weeks, the researcher measures the participant's blood pressure and ?nds that the treatment group has a lower average blood pressure than the control group. Based on this result, the researcher concludes that the new drug is effective in lowering blood pressure.

Scenario 2: A company wants to test the effectiveness of a new packaging design for its product. They decide to recruit participants to try the product with the new packaging and compare their satisfaction ratings to those who try the product with the old packaging.
