Jim Jones has recently been appointed to the Board of Directors of Youngstown Medical Center, a 300 bed nonprofit community hospital. He is reviewing the financial package that was sent to him that includes 28 pages of financial information consisting of current monthly income statement, a balance sheet and other monthly actual to budget comparisons of performance with some related financial ratios. The next board meeting (in 2 days) is critical because the board's major item for discussion is related to a proposed bond issue to finance a major hospital renovation. Jim does not know how to determine if the hospital can afford to take on this additional debt. There is so much information and no apparent pattern as to what really is important. He recently read a report on "Dashboard Reporting" and wonders if some structure like this would help him and other board members get a better appreciation for the financial performance of the hospital.

Research the concept of "Dashboard Reporting" and report to your colleagues in your post what you found and if it could help Jim Jones.
