Students will research the climate in society today as to the question of resilience planning. Students should review the question of urgency or lacicity as it exists in society today. The focus of your work should include an evaluation of the question of consciousness, is there a sense of urgency present, or a feeling of vulnerability or powerlessness noted?
Students will prepare a 2 to 3 page paper summarizing the sentiment of their results. Students should reflect on the topics discussed in this week's reading assignment, lecture and discussion boards. Students will also include their personal view on the subject of climate resilience planning and the impact of urban planning projects.
Student may also complete this assignment using digital media tools. Here are some suggestions as to its use:
Digital Media Option:
This assignment was designed to challenge students to entertain the idea of using digital technology to access a body of people on a key issue, like envirodynamics. Students may utilize digital technology to determine if there is a sense of urgency among citizens as to climate resilience planning. Students may use social media devices, such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter etc., to detect the current sentiment on the impact of climate change, our environment and urban planning projects.
Suggestions for the use of digital technology include conducting a survey on the Instagram, Facebook or Twitter platforms, and quantifying the results. It is suggested that students develop at least three yes or no questions and one open ended question.
