Requirements include: Research one of the popular environmental/hazard issues to which humans may have some level of influence and address the following topics: cause and effect (specific events and in general), scale or scope of the issue (how big is the problem), the exact human influence (good or bad), and prognosis for the near future (up to 100 years).

My topic is wild fires.

Pick an option, and then choose a topic.

Option 1: Research one of the popular environmental/hazard issues to which humans may have some level of influence and address the following topics: cause and effect (specific events and in general), scale or scope of the issue (how big is the problem), the exact human influence (good or bad), and prognosis for the near future (up to 100 years).

Choose one: Avalanches, Toxic or Nuclear Waste (focus on water/land pollution), Flooding (river or coastal), Wild Fires, Acid Rain (why is it a disaster?).

Option 2: Choose:

An analysis of government and civil service response to areas affected by natural disasters. Include perspectives on funding, responsibility and outcomes. Describe at least two real-world examples of disasters (from anywhere and at any time in the past 200 years) and the responses from governments or civil services.

An analysis of scientific funding for research to help reduce and predict the causes of and effects from natural disasters. Include perspectives on government, academic and/or private sector research as well as examples of the funding and research process. Be sure to describe the success of that research through examples from real disasters (was it worth the time and money?).
