Final Research Report
This should be a logical extension, and culmination, of the work you have done this semester in relation to your topic. The emphasis here should be on refining your approach to the topic, taking into account what you have learned from our discussions/lecture and assignments on research methods. The successful research report will explain in detail 1) how the data was collected and analyzed (Assignments 3-4; SPSS Exam2) and; 2) how you could improve your methods for future research ')
TITLE
This should be as descriptive as possible stating your research topic while not being too long.
INTRODUCTION
Discuss the importance of your topic in context of the wider society. You may want to use some current news headlines and/or some relevant statistics here. The main goal is to convince the reader that this is an important topic that requires further attention.
METHODS
You must discuss in as much relevant detail each of the following:
(1) The sample (e.g., random or some sort of convenience sample?). Specifically tell the reader what your sample looked like
(2) What was your main research goal-descriptive, explanatory, evaluation, exploration?
(3) Specify how you collected and analyzed your data. Discuss your composite measure-what does it attempt to measurer exactly? Briefly discuss your independent variables.
RESULTS
State your three (3) hypotheses AND report your results here (use the SPSS Exam 2 as a guide)
- Report the mean score on the COMPSUM
- Report the statistics used to confirm/reject each hypothesis
If all/any of the hypotheses were rejected, why do you think they were NOT confirmed? How could the results be improved? 1-2 pages MAX
DISCUSSION
Summarize why this research is important; what you learned from your research; AND MOST IMPORTANTLY how research on the topic could be improved to foster a better understanding of the issue, etc. Specifically, discuss how you could improve your research design in relation to the sample, validity (internal/external/content etc.), reliability, possible improvements to the questionnaire (question wording, making categories exhaustive, mutually exclusive, etc.) 1-2 pages MAX
