Instructions:
Students must start working on their research topic as soon as the topics and supervisar(s) are announced. In the initial stages, students must meet their supervisar(s) at least 2 to 3 times a week. Once the students have achieved the confidence of working on their own, the meetings can be dropped to the frequency of once in a reek. However, it is strongly recommended that the frequency and duration of meetings must be negotiated with your supervisar(s) on a continuous basis. The deadlines for all the submissions are very stringent. Extension will be granted only on exceptional circumstances such as, hospitalisation over several months. If there are issues related to access to facilities and supervision, this should be brought to the notice of the subject coordinator at least 4 weeks before the submission deadline. Any issues raised within 4 weeks from the date of submission will not be considered as valid for any special considerations. Students are encouraged to project manage their thesis right from week 1 of the term. This subject, besides training the student to undertake research, it is also aimed at teaching project management skills. Students who manage their time effectively and finish the reports on time will be able to demonstrate their project management skills, which would be an essential requirement to obtain a job in the industry. The research proposal must include but not to be limited to the following sections::
- Abstract
- Introduction/ Background
- Literature review
- Research questions/objectives

Expected length is about 15 to 20 pages including tables, figures and equations. Table of content, list of figures, tables and abbreviations are excluded from the word count. You can also consult with your supervisor(s) for additional details.
