Identifying a research gap is essential in conducting valuable investigations that enhance our existing knowledge (Wong et al., 2021). Research gaps are delineated as regions or subjects where the capacity to arrive at a definitive answer for a specific question is impeded due to inadequate evidence. Research gaps and research requirements are sometimes different. Research needs to refer to information gaps that greatly hinder the decision-making ability of important stakeholders, such as patients, doctors, and policymakers, who are the end users of research. One must possess critical thinking skills, inventiveness, and a thorough understanding of current literature to address the research gap.
The method is iterative and involves the repeated revision of research topics and concepts. An area lacking in past research is the necessity for additional investigations on therapeutic implementation of adequate staffing in Med surg facility. Providing adequate staff and workplace wellness has been implemented in several settings, such as ambulatory and in-patient settings. Nevertheless, there is a dearth of research on long-term facilities. By closing the gap, it becomes possible to get further data on the impact of the fair and sufficient staff ratio program on the long-term institution. It impacts future researchers' assessment of whether the long-term facility career structure is suitable for adequate staffing and if it is the optimal choice for that particular environment, which is vital.
